Ron Porterfield is a former actor who spent many years “pounding the pavement” in Hollywood to gain his dream as a steady working actor. After years, however of dealing with the harsh realities of show business and living a decadent lifestyle, Ron knew that a change was needed. This change came when a friend who had months earlier quit show business, himself, introduced Ron to the Seventh-day Adventist Church. In 2002 Ron made his public stand in giving his life to Jesus by being baptized.
In 2006, Brother Porterfield moved to Seale, Alabama to get medical missionary training at Uchee Pines Institute. After eighteen months of intense training, Brother Porterfield became a staff member, working at the institute's lifestyle center. While there, he had the opportunity of working with individuals with a variety of health challenges including cancer, diabetes, kidney disease, depression, bi-polar and more. During Brother Porterfield’s 10½ years of working at Uchee Pines he also had many other opportunities to share the gospel of health, near and far — from frequenting several countries in the Caribbean, to living in Hawaii for six months, and finally serving as the institute’s education director for the last 2 ½ years of his time there.
In 2014 Elder Ron Porterfield married Magna Parks. Together they travel with their ministry Be In Good Health taking the gospel of health wherever they are called to serve.
